Tutorial - How to Store Passwords for Websites?
Introduction
Free Password Box is a free password storage program that has the ability to store & manage your login IDs and passwords in an encrypted vault securely and systematically to relieve you of the password management chore.
Step 1. Edit Website
Launch Free Password Box and switch to "Edit" tab. Click "Add a site" to activate the site editor. Type the site name or short description about the site in "Site name/description". Enter the site URL in "Site URL". If you want, click "Launch" to visit the site. Type your ID in "User name". Enter your website password in "Password" or click "Generate" to use the password generator to create a password. Type some information if needed in "Notes". Click "OK" and the website name will be displayed in the program window. Click "Modify a site" to reactivate the site editor and edit its name, URL, user name, password, etc. If you want to remove a site from the list, select it and click "Delete a site".
To
activate the password generator, you can also go to "Tools"
tab and click "Generate a password...". There are 4 types
of characters in "Characters to include" - uppercase, lowercase,
numbers and special characters. By default, they're checked. You can unselect
one or more according to your demands. If needed, enter the characters in
the box below and the password generated will contain at least one character
you entered. Type the number or click the up and down arrows
to specify the password length. Click "Generate a password"
to get a password. Click "Copy password to clipboard" to
copy the password.
You
can also check "Use template" and enter the characters
as template. Each character has different meaning in the template. Click
"Generate a password" and you'll get a password using the
template you entered.
Step 2. Save the Archive
Go back to "File" tab. Click "Save" to save the archive as a *.zip file.
If
you want to protect the specified archive, click "New archive password..."
and set the password for it.
To
import logins from another archive, click "Import..." to
choose an archive you want to import. Then, click "Add"
or "Add All" to import one or all the items in
"From archive items" to "Items to copy" box. Click
"Remove All" or "Remove" to move all the
items or one item to the original box.
To
quickly access the archives you created, you can go to "Tools"
tab and click "Create desktop shortcut for this archive"
to create the shortcut for the archive.
